  • About Us
Under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, 2006 a federal grant is disbursed to all states for enhancing secondary and post-secondary career and technical education programs across the nation. NET (Nontraditional Employment & Training) Project provides statewide technical assistance for nontraditional career options to Career and Technical Education institutions that sponsor Carl D. Perkins funded programs. As per the Act, nontraditional occupation has been defined as any occupation in which one gender comprises less than 25% of the employment within that field.

The Nontraditional Employment & Training Project is administered by the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, University at Albany, State University of New York in partnership with the New York State Education Department. This website is designed to provide timely and useful resources to students, parents, institutions and faculty in support of the mission to build a nontraditional workforce through expanded educational and career opportunities for students.

The NET Program at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society also presents the Vanguard award to students enrolled in career and technical education programs that are not traditional for their gender. To know more about the Vanguard awards and the nomination process, click here.
