The session examines challenges and opportunities for building and sustaining solid arrangements for formal and informal collaborations that are designed to strengthen outreach, career integration and career goal attainment of students who are members of “Special Populations” as designated by Perkins V; including those pursuing gender nontraditional CTE programs.

Roundtable: Case Studies of High Preforming Institutions in Recruiting and Retaining CTE Students Pursuing Gender Nontraditional Fields of Study

This session examines five case studies of high performing Perkins institutions who have met or exceeded their targets in recruiting and retaining students to gender nontraditional CTE fields of study. The discussion will highlight lessons learned and best practices that peer institutions utilize to ensure success of students pursuing gender nontraditional CTE occupations. Theoretical underpinnings of CTE student success are examined. Successful strategies are mapped to conceptual models of student success in occupational programs.

It will provide a synthesis of the research and practice literature on best practices and proven strategies.
